Had a hot water line from the heater burst once. It was between the heater


and the water manifold in the garage. Plumber said it was due to the flexing of the crappy line that the builder put in. Caused damage to the adjoining dining room floor and dry wall. Decided right then to have the whole house re-plumbed with PEX. Cost me about $10K but I screwed up by not insisting on another manifold. Not a problem if someone downstairs doesn't run water and either cause me to watch out for a sudden cold shower or worse yet hotter one.
